Transforming the Dreaded First Christmas
Lovely story of the first Christmas following the death of a husband and father. What a wonderful idea for all of us to remember, honor and celebrate the life of someone we love who is no longer physically present to us.
This truly has the power to transform that dreaded first Christmas (or second, third etc) into a much more joyous, though bittersweet, celebration.
I dreaded the first Christmas after Bill died. So I asked each of my grown children to write down a memory of a non-monetary gift given them by their dad. After we finished dinner, we read our notes out loud as dessert.
